Julia A. Cryne is an associate with Marks Clare & Richards, LLC and focuses her practice on immigration law. Julia, who is fluent in Spanish, has experience working in all types of immigration law, including immigration court defense, appeals, family based petitions, employment petitions, obtaining residency and citizenship, non-immigrant visas, work permits and international adoption. Julia previously worked at a University, and assisted international students with their visas and immigration needs, and at another private firm specializing in all types of immigration practice. Julia has had some especially proud success stories, including obtaining immediate citizenship for a US Navy veteran from Mexico, obtaining asylum for a man from Kenya in a contested deportation case, and obtaining a National Interest Waiver in an employment petition for a top genetic scientist from Bangladesh.
Julia is passionate about immigration law and serving the immigrant community. Julia is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (“AILA”), and participates in immigration-specific continuing legal education routinely. She volunteers through AILA’s Military Assistance Program to serve military members, veterans and their families with immigration law cases. Julia regularly speaks in community engagements at churches, schools, businesses and other volunteer groups on immigration rights and options.
Julia is originally from Omaha, Nebraska, but traveled extensively for her education. Julia received an Associate’s of Liberal Arts Degree from Cottey College in Missouri (the P.E.O. school for women), a Bachelor’s of Arts with an emphasis in History from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma. She also studied abroad during her undergraduate at the University of Wales, Bangor, in the United Kingdom. During law school, Julia worked in the school’s legal aid clinic in family law matters, and wrote for the Law Review. After law school, Julia participated in a Spanish language immersion program in Costa Rica. Julia is fluent in Spanish. In her free time, Julia enjoys travelling, horseback riding, and spending time with her family and two animals (dog Foxzer and cat Chloe).
